The Stadio Olimpico is the main and largest sports facility of Rome, Italy. It is located at the centre of the Foro Italico sports complex, north of the city. Host to the 1960 Olympics, the stadium was refurbished for the 1990 FIFA World Cup and hosted the final, and these refurbishments have allowed the stadium to now be classed as a UEFA Elite Stadium. Although intended mainly for football, the stadium is also used for athletics, which entails a large running track around the outside of the pitch. Despite this, the Statio Olimpico is renowned as one of the loudest and most colourful stadia in the world.
